About the Role

Good Reason Houston aims to make Houston the top public education city in the nation by transforming the educational experience for over 700,000 students. The Associate, Digital Audience will help bring this vision to life by supporting the organization’s digital voice and extending its reach across online platforms.

As a core member of the Communications Team, the Associate,  Digital Audience Associate, will be responsible for overseeing and executing messages across our social media channels and newsletters. From crafting posts that leverage online trends to communicate key messages, to engaging with our audience in comments, you will play a crucial role in shaping our brand identity and driving digital audience growth.

This role is ideal for a digitally fluent storyteller who can translate ideas into compelling content that resonates with diverse audiences. The Associate, Digital Audience will manage publishing across platforms, monitor audience engagement, and collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure our digital presence reflects our mission and momentum. By tracking trends and analyzing performance, they will also help refine strategies to maximize impact.

Ultimately, the Digital Audience Associate will enhance Good Reason Houston’s ability to inform and inspire a broader audience—and ensure more Houstonians are connected to and activated by the work of improving public schools. This role will report to the Content Manager.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

Content Creation and Distribution (40%)

  • Draft, publish, and manage daily social media content (text, graphics, short-form video) across all platforms (e.g., Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms).
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Visual Content  to ensure all assets align with brand guidelines and campaign goals.
  • Assist in drafting or distributing digital newsletters, blog content, or website updates as needed.
  • Customize messaging and assets for specific audiences and platforms to increase relevance and engagement.
 

Planning and Coordination (30%)

  • Coordinate with internal teams to support organization-wide campaigns and storytelling efforts, ensuring social media reflects current initiatives and messaging priorities.
  • Maintain and optimize the social media content calendar in alignment with organizational priorities and campaign timelines.

Engagement and Community Management (20%)

  • Monitor conversations, comments, and direct messages across social channels, responding in a timely and brand-aligned manner.
  • Engage proactively with partners, local advocates, influencers, and other stakeholders to amplify Good Reason Houston’s voice and expand its digital network.
  • Track emerging trends and moments in culture, education, and local news to surface real-time engagement opportunities.


Analytics and Reporting (10%)

  • Use analytics tools to track engagement, follower growth, reach, and other key metrics.
  • Translate insights into clear recommendations for content optimization and audience growth.
  • Participate in team reflections on digital strategy and contribute ideas to refine approaches based on performance data.
 

Qualifications and Key Attributes

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in social media, digital storytelling, online audience engagement, and e-newsletters.
  • Strong understanding of current marketing trends and multimedia platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meltwater, etc.).
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments.

Working at Good Reason Houston

Good Reason Houston offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The starting salary range for this position is $55,000 annually. New hires are offered a salary depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. Benefits offered include 401(k) (automatic 3% employer contribution), life, medical, dental and vision insurance packages. Each employee accrues 35 paid time off days per calendar year in addition to the 19 paid holidays per year. Good Reason Houston is an office-based organization, but allows for virtual work on Mondays and Fridays.
